rike a Chord Cwmbran Choir 37
Music - United Kingdom - Wales
Strike a Chord Cwmbran is a choir for stroke survivors, carers and family members who meet each week to sing together.
A joint venture between the Stroke Association and Head4Arts, the choir is led by a musical director.
The choir has been running for 2 years and now has thirty members who have reported marked improvement in their speech, increased confidence and reduced
social isolation as a result of attending the choir.
After funding from Arts Council of Wales ended, the choir has decided to set up independently from July 2016, which will allow them to continue fundraising and
performing to a variety of audiences. Past performances have included their own Christmas Concert, Welsh Stroke Conference, Roald Dahl celebration event and
community events and celebrations.
A video to demonstrate how the choir has evolved and what it means to its members is available here: https://youtu.be/HWYc1tk_KWI
